Our Mission

Fostering independence, defending dignity, and realizing each person's full potential.

Cedars has been supporting individuals with developmental disabilities since 1919.

Our success stems from how we work together with the people we serve — as individuals deserving of respect, personal choice, and the chance to develop interests, skills, and independence.

We are known for creating a life affirming, loving environment in which personal accomplishments are celebrated, individual skills are recognized and participants are able to lead creative, productive and joyous lives.

It feels like family.

There’s a feeling of family among the approximately 100 people served at Cedars community based residences, including the Generoso Pope, Jr. Residences in Ross and our nine group homes in Novato and San Rafael. Our unique and innovative day programs serve 200 individuals each weekday.  Off-hours are spent enjoying music, art, sports, nature and, above all, friendship.

Individuals here are people with capabilities, not disabilities.
