Our Earth Our Home
“We’re all swimming together.” – title from Megan Olsen’s artwork
The next step we take toward environmental sustainability might just be in our own backyard.
In our latest art exhibition, Our Earth, Our Home, Cedars joins with long-time partner The Marine Mammal Center to celebrate our connection with the natural world while underlining concerns for the sustainability of our ecosystems. In this heartfelt and collaborative exhibition, Cedars artists express a deep awareness of environmental issues in the form of drawings, paintings, and the use of recycled materials in creating assemblages. The exhibition also features the profound observation of marine life in the photographs of Bill Hunnewell, TMMC’s official photographer.
Cedars has had a long and mutually beneficial relationship with The Marine Mammal Center, which has been advancing global ocean conservation through marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation, scientific research, and education since 1975. Cedars participants have volunteered at The Marine Mammal Center in various capacities for over 20 years, taking immense pride in the work they perform there. This new art show is simply a greater expression of our years of work together along with the hope that our participants will be back soon in their beloved volunteer roles at The Marine Mammal Center post Covid.
Along with the work of Cedars artists, Eco-friendly products from TMMC will be available for sale for the duration of the exhibition as will Bill Hunnewell's photograph greeting cards.
