Artist Statement:
Beth Krebs’ work champions faith against the odds. Her installations, videos, sculptures, and participatory projects also recognize, with humor and empathy, the sometimes peculiar or ineffectual ways we humans cope. These works include:
 
A motivational video that presents me at middle age, in sequined spandex, performing a flag routine to a marching band arrangement of the Journey song, Don’t Stop Believin’
 
Off-scale reconstructions of luck charms people have lost
A telephone hotline, live during the Covid shelter-in-place order, that invited callers to share what was going around and around in their minds, and choose from a menu of sound collages of things that had been looping in others’.
 
She works and lives in Oakland with her partner, a feline associate, and lots of plants.
