Balancing Act

Tom Schmidt leans toward a fluid, improvisational approach in his landscape and abstract work, alternating between acrylic paint, watercolor, and pencil. As an avid hiker, Tom finds much inspiration in the rich landscapes of Northern California. He also enjoys working from printed source material; Impressionist painters and landscape photography are favorites. While Tom may begin with these sources as a foundation, in the process of working his paintings will often evolve into fantastical worlds of imagination.
