VOLUNTEER UPDATE

Through our current Shelter in Place environment, our immediate, clear goal is to keep everyone--staff, participants, and volunteers--as safe as possible. Therefore, for the time being and until further notice, individuals who wish to volunteer for Cedars must do so from a safe distance, and should not enter Cedars facilities until we feel it is safe for all.

However, Cedars and our volunteers have been getting creative! Volunteers have been able to support residents virtually through Zoom hangouts/check-ins, showing off their special talents through music, magic, exercise classes, and more. Additionally, established Cedars volunteers have been able to interact and engage with residents through the Cedars Inspired Connections Facebook page. We will also be needing volunteers in August for our Shake, Rattle & Bowl Virtual Event. If you are interested in volunteering for Cedars, please fill out an application through the form below.

Cedars looks forward to welcoming back volunteers to our locations once it is safe to do so. Until then, we deeply appreciate the new ways in which we can stay connected and have a little fun!

We invite you to join our wonderful core of volunteers and contribute your special talents.

At Cedars we offer a number of ways you can dedicate your time and desire to serve:

  • Weekly Activities

  • Ongoing Positions

  • Skill Sharing

  • Done-In-a-Day/Events

“Teaching Charlie how to weave when I don’t even know how to operate a loom myself, helped teach me patience, understanding and simple love. I have learned so much from the clients at Cedars.”

Hours: Minimum of one shift per week with a least a 3 month commitment. Shift times are Monday- Friday from 9:30-1PM or 1PM-4:30PM.

Gardener

Contribute to the magic at the Cedars Textile Arts Collaborative. Explore opportunities to assist as a volunteer gardener with our Hands & Earth Co-op Program. A great opportunity to work alongside our talented participants as they work to maintain and expand our fruit and vegetable gardens. Gardening responsibilities range from working in the greenhouse, to planting, pruning, harvesting crops and selling produce at the local Farmers Market.

Make a difference by lending a hand in home maintenance, gardening or landscaping. Opportunities to volunteer are dependent upon residential needs and include painting, furniture restoration, housekeeping, flower planting and care, general landscaping, etc.

Skill Sharing

Do you have a special skill our talent that you would like to share with our Residents or Staff? We encourage volunteers to share their passionate pursuits by providing instruction or a showing of musical or artistic abilities.

Done-in-a-Day/Events

Interested in volunteering as a group and/or only looking to volunteer at our events on weekends or in the evenings? This is perfect for companies, school groups or clubs.

Cedars looks forward to continued success, but we know we can't do it alone. We need people just like you to support our participants in living healthy, productive joyous lives.

Start by completing the done-in-a-day application.

"Volunteering at Cedars allows me to slow down and pay attention to the nuances of this world we live in.  Never before have I marveled at a funny- shaped strawberry or wondered why a bird really sings. When you leave Cedars after a day of volunteering, there is definitely a feeling of wholeness -- the feeling that you've done something right".

Will H., Volunteer

"Volunteering at Cedars is the best medicine for any wound.”
