Cedars Choose Kindness Campaign
The Choose Kindness Campaign was created by Cedars residents and day program participants through the Client Advisory Council (CAC). The CAC identified a critical issue: the need for more everyday kindness and inclusion in public life.
Choosing Kindness means: treating all people with compassion, meeting differences with curiosity instead of judgement, and ensuring inclusion is not just a goal but the norm.
The CAC is taking the Choose Kindness Campaign across Marin County!

Businesses
Cedars representatives are visiting local businesses with simple and practical ways to create welcoming spaces and promote kindness in daily operations.

School Groups
Interactive school presentations bring messages of empathy and inclusion into classrooms, empowering students to model kindness and respect.
CAC members have led collaborative art projects, puppet shows, and discussions about spreading kindness in schools.

Local Government
CAC Members have created a presentation for Marin town and city councils.
The CAC plans to share the message of the Choose Kindness campaign with local elected officials and their constituents at public meetings.

Choose Kindness Art Installation
Cedars artists along with artists from the San Anselmo community—over 32 in all—worked in tandem to create the entire work, with each artist painting a large panel that has been assembled ‘mosaic style’ on the wall to form a cohesive image. The colorful art installation is 8 feet high by 16 feet wide and consists of 32 panels. The installation incorporates the town’s beloved icon, Sugarfoot the deer, the beautiful Mt. Tamalpais, and words chosen by the Client Advisory Council that represent kindness to them.
