Amey paints with a great sense of design and color. She typically abstracts original source images into grids of stacked and nested boxes, sometimes incorporating little bits of writing. When she draws from her imagination, the distinction between drawing and writing blurs further. She fills the space with little drawings, labels for what she’s drawn, lists of her friends, and notes to herself. Her work is full of rainbows and angels and other symbols of love and joy.
