Katya McCulloch is a community artist whose work is exhibited internationally and in private and public collections including the Library of Congress, UC Berkeley, Stanford University, and Emory University, among other special collection libraries. Katya has MFA in Printmaking from San Francisco Art Institute, with BA in Studio Art and German Language & Literature from UC Berkeley. Katya spent most of her early life in Germany, Afghanistan and Washington, D.C., where she graduated from public school. She believes strongly that art is not just an elite profession, but a universal human need that marks our humanity.
As Director of TeamWorks Art Mentoring Program, Katya has made art with underserved youth in Marin County for over 20 years. She has taught printmaking at San Quentin State Prison for 17 years through the William James Association Prison Arts Project. She creates community murals and public art in a wide-variety of unconventional settings: Music Outback Foundation “MobFest”, Marin County Fair “Public Art Days”, Italian Street Painting Festival. She is currently collaborating on 3 mural projects in Marin.
