Reed makes dense, evocative compositions of words and phrases. The source of his text is often child-oriented culture, such as Disney and Sesame Street. Reed transforms the source material into complex, cryptic works of art. He purposefully positions clusters of related words and phrases, in tiny meticulous print. He often writes many variations of a phrase, exploring ideas and connections. His use of color is very specific: when drawing, he will ask questions like, “What color is orchestra?” or “What color is broken?”
