Mason fills the studio with his joy in making art. His dry sense of humor, his unfailing kindness to his fellow artists, and his deeply philosophical mindset make him a well-loved member of the

community. He draws tight, maze-like constructions that morph into disembodied facial features. Such mash-ups of abstract and figurative modes of expression are reminiscent of drifting thoughts, as if the artist were creating maps of his own consciousness. He also makes sculptures, often using a limited palette of shapes and colors. Mason's exploration of the relationships between elemental objects has a spirit of serious, yet playful, inquiry.
